Joan Didion’s illustrate to readers about “WHY I WRITE” by saying, “All I knew then was what I wasn’t and it took me some years to discover, by which I mean not a “good writer or a “bad” writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper.” Being a good writer takes patients and practice. I don’t write as much as I use to, but I do like to write. I mostly write in a journal than typing it on the computer. “Writing is the process of using symbols to communicate thoughts and ideas in a readable form.” I use to just sit in my room and make up stories about stupid things, but it made sense to me even if other people didn't understand my writing. I never used writing as a therapy, it was more of a hobby for me because I was able to write whatever was in my mind without nobody else able to read it. “ I guess you can call me a closet writer, but that was when I was a little girl.” Now, being a grown women I don’t mind letting people see my writing. I like to hear other people’s criticism and opinions on my writing it helps me write better. I wrote a lot``last semester. We had about 3 essay, a midterm, and a final, and boy was it challenging for me but I got through it and that’s all that matters. I still have a lot of growing to do in my writing. There is one more thing that I do not like and that is texting. I would rather talk on the phone and say what I have to say then text it. I like to get straight to the point. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/schools/whitmanhs/academics/english/Why%20I%20Write%20Didion.pdf
